I must make an important correction!

Mr. Stafford did not attend any boarding school in Ivory Coast when he was 10 years old. There was not boarding schools there then. His parents were missionaries IN the Ivory Coast. The boarding school was in a neighboring country, and many hours/days of tortuous driving, (sometimes making our own bridges) away from his home in Ivory Coast. I know because my parents were the original dorm parents of the boarding school which opened in the Ivory Coast when Mr. Stafford was 13 or 14, graduating from the first 8th grade class at that boarding school.

So, green with envy, I finally add my name to your band of awesome followers… I was *so* keen to get to the Willow Creek sessions here in SA as they are touring the thing (but with lame videotalks by the Cool People rather than them in actual person) – so pleased to hear that it was awesome. Had I been there, I would have run up to Bono, then, very coolly (?) bumped into him and had an awesome conversation displaying my wit, intelligence and commitment to hope and change, and then the conversation would have ended up with him offering me a job at the One campaign. Then I would have run up to My Hybels and said “Bill! You’re fantastic!” and he would have high5ed me.

Thanks for the link! I wish I could’ve been there to hear Stafford speak. I heard that is was powerful and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place including all of the satellite simulcast locations. One day, I’d love to meet Stafford.

wow. I just found your blog via the expatblog website. I am also an mk, and Wes Stafford graduated from my alma mater. I got to hear him speak there, but never about his own abuse. It’s interesting to compare his path since his abuse to the life path of the guy that wrote “The Shack”, who has a similar story.
