Yup, when it comes to parenting there is no description that will convey the experience as accurately as the experience itself. If you haven't done it yet, it's a foreign country. Absolutely. (and glad you liked the pretzel line, that was my favorite part of the post ;)

Oh my goodness...SO TRUE!

I was thinking about this some the other day:

Do you know any women in their 30's who are childless and notice how they act? They are decidedly different than women of the same age who DO have kids, aren't they? At least, that's true of a lot of women I personally know. Motherhood totally changes you. It forces you to be selfish...totally loving...available at all times...completely grown up...I could keep going. Me and my older sis are friends, but she really can not connect with me in a lot of ways because she hasn't been blessed with babies of her own yet. She just can't comprehend WHY I get on edge if I've just gotten my kids to sleep and then she does something that wakes them up. And she has no IDEA what it's truly like to sit up with a feverish child all night long, praying for swift recovery and sleep to follow. Do you know what I'm saying? I know that when she someday remarries and gets to have her own children, she will probably be able to understand me more! =-D It will then change her, too, just like it's changed me.

Love this post, BTW! And I love you said that you guys don't spoon - ya pretzel! HA! That's a perfect analogy! <3

another good side effect of sleep deprivation is memory loss, so perhaps i've forgotten how doing things just for me used to be. :-) but seriously folks, i wouldn't trade a moment of any of it (except when mine broke his leg or when either have been sick) for a second more of that life. and, like you say, parenting is not for the feint of heart - it's serious, wholehearted, courageous business.
