He sees Me

November 3, 2009

in Callings, Faith, Motherhood

Whether I’m hiding behind my kids or not. Whether I’m tired, wraggedy, or manic.

He sees me.

Not my undone laundry or my messy house. Not my mismatched curtains or my futon with the chocolate milk stains.

He sees me.

Beyond the color of my hair or the size of my waist. Over the grocery lists of immediate needs I  rattle off to Him every morning. Behind the worry.

He sees me.

Inside my inside dreams, my secret hopes; at the crux of where mommy meets wife and woman.

He sees me.

Unbelievable how hard it was to find a photograph with me actually in it for this post. 99 out of 100 times they are of the kids only. But beyond my lens, beyond my point and shoot camera, beyond my life of diapers, commuting and writing. Beyond my homesickness and current dearth of frequent flier miles. Beyond my accent, my zip code and my passport.

He, and He alone, truly sees me.

And it makes me feel like this.

I hope you know He sees You too.

Yes, indeed He sees every hair on our head and every prayer of our hearts!

I’m reminded of the song lyric:

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

Beautiful. I have been humming, “His eye is on the sparrow” all morning!

Precious. And heartwarming.

(And I’m glad you have mismatched curtains too!)

We have a whole lot of mismatched everything, if that makes you feel even better! (PS: Nice to “see” you again; glad things around your parts are settling into a more “normal” pace again!)

It’s so good to feel known, inside and out, and by Someone who cares so immensely and accepts us so graciously. Great post.

You have such a way of relating good good truths.
And both of those photos are beautiful, just wow.

Thanks – since I didn’t actually take either of them, I can happily agree! A special friend from South Africa took the first one and my baby brother took the second. Both make me smile.

Hi, I just discovered you from Sarah Mae’s blog! I will be visiting again! Lovely post, and very true. We mothers need this reminder, that we are precious individual’s in God’s sight, not just somebody’s mother that has no name. “Behold, I have graven you on the palms of My hands.”

I soooo needed this today. After 3 wake ups in the middle of the night from our 2 children our house is Wreck!! I always feel so much pressure for it to be neat and look as though I have it all under control, but I never ever do! It was such a good reminder for me that God doesn’t care what my house looks like…he cares about where my heart is. I really really needed this today. Thank you!! Blessings, Brooke

I so appreciate you replying to the comments posted on your blog. I feel like all too often I post a comment on blogs yet there is no 2 way communication which leaves you feeling like somehow the loop hasn’t been closed (if that makes any sense). Your “loop closing” has kept me coming back, besides the great posts of course :) . Appreciative!! Brooke

You’re so welcome. The bloggers I have loved the most have always been the ones who reply to their comments and emails. It makes me feel valued as a reader. And as a writer I love the community that blogging creates – the sense of being in it together. So I love to write, you guys love to comment, I love to respond. It’s a happy circle of life!
