It takes guts to be a mom

February 22, 2010

Motherhood terrifies me.

Especially when I am standing at the daycare door.

I don’t know how Hannah did it. Her courage makes my stomach want to drop out the bottom.

I am sharing about Hannah, this fear, and it’s antidote on my friend Jessica’s site today. She writes at Muthering Heights and is one of the co-hosts of the Relevant Conference coming up in October. And I am delighted to have the chance to talk a little mama guts and glory over at her place today.

I was grasping at straws just this morning trying to put into words exactly how I was feeling….and you did it…so I hope you don’t mind but I linked to the post in my post today so others could read it too. It’s beautiful and I can’t stop crying because it’s exactly the way I feel.

Oh absolutely – please go ahead and link it. I wish I could give you a big hug right now!! :) I am sorry you are having a hard day – I find tea, chocolate and good friends are the best antidote!

To say that I know exactly how you feel would be a gross understatement. I know that these children are His…that they are only entrusted to me for a short time. Yet, I find myself holding onto them for dear life. I long for them to love Him and follow Him…and my daily prayer is that He would begin preparing me now for whatever is to come. I pray for the strength to, not only let them go if necessary, but to be their biggest supporter in the process.

Yea, it’s a daily battle isn’t it? I feel like God and I play tug of war with my kids some days.

Gosh – thanks sweet friend! Weaning my kids from me – it’s something I struggle with on a daily basis.

Great guest post Lisa-Jo! Children are a gift from God and you hit the nail on the head in regards to leading them to Christ and dependence on their heavenly Father. Thanks for the encouraging words!

Thanks for *your* encouraging words! I’m leaving on a 4 day business trip tomorrow, so this post was especially poignant for me. I hand them into the care of my Father and trust that He will have much to teach and share with them while I am away.
