You may think I’m weird but…

July 9, 2010

in Sweetstuff

On the rare ocassion I drink coffee, I like it to be instant, decaf, Nescafe.

I think cold, leftover pizza is one of the most delicious foods in the morning.

I can quote, word for word, lines from books or movies I saw years before, but can never remember the price of a gallon of gas.

I have a love affair with twitter and consider it one of the most delicious forms of community building, even when it is the reason I was peer pressured into agreeing to try “liver mush” next time I’m in the South.

OK, your turn. Subscribers, wanna click over here and play along?

I do not like chocolate, and I’m a woman. Exception–brownies and chocolate chip cookies, but the brownies cannot have fudge on them.

I do not like shopping, and I’m a woman.

Is liver mush the same as liverwurst? Because if it is, I loved liverwurst as a child.

I took Calculus in college, and I didn’t need it for my major. I wanted to prove that I could do it (and I got my first and only ‘C’).

Calc – for fun? You *are* weird.

And I hadn’t thought about liver wurst – I do like that! Hmmmmm.

I took Biology in college for fun. I got a B (almost a C) and I never went to class. If I had actually gone to class, I would have had a high A!

I can easily present a technical paper or presentation but walking into a PTA meeting or Sephora gives me an anixety attack.

I don’t mind disposing of bugs, crittes, etc…but cannot stand handling nail files or sandpaper (its a texture thing)

Sephora scares me to. And Express. I never feel “cool” enough to shop at either place. But, I have the same reaction to Home Depot. Go figure!

Now that I’m pregnant, here are few weird (perhaps normal) things about me:
I used to love coffee but now I can only drink the instant. The smell of the real stuff is gross.
I love salad. But I like eating it one ingredient at a time. I’ll eat an entire cucumber and then have an urge for a tomato. I haven’t eaten plain lettuce yet but it does sound tasty. Oh and bell peppers. Perhaps it is the perfect fruit.
When I first married I was so afraid of cooking that I had to make a menu for the entire month(think school cafeteria) to basically “tell me what to make”. Now I love cooking and still do a menu monthly almost without fail.

Oo those are great. Especially the picky salad eating. That’s too funny!

I live in Ukraine, speak Russian, but everyone thinks I am American.

I took a seminary degree Old Hebrew class before freshman year in university because I was bored at home. The problem now is that because the teacher was from the States and taught in English without translation, now when I need to translate something from Old Hebrew to Russian I have to translate it into English first…

I am 24, but most of my friends are 35+. I get along best with kids who are over 10 years younger than me or adults who are 10+ older than me.

I knew there was a reason I liked you so much. Must be our 10 year age gap, eh? :)

I’m seriously the same way. Sometimes it bothers me. I never get along best with the people of my same age. Go figure.

I like to eat maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal right out of the bag with a spoon.

I hated ice cream as a child. When we would go to Baskin Robbins I would only get a plain cone. The workers always gave me pitiful looks.

I HATE raw tomatoes, but I can eat them cooked any way at all.

Why are mine all food related?

I love brewing my own pro-biotic beverages – Kefir, Kombucha, you name it, if it’s cultured I’ll try it!

I will give up sleep to exercise, because it gives me more energy than snoozing!

I believe you can learn to like anything, and am constantly working to teach that to my kids. Even in the liver department…

I like facebook better than twitter – easier to keep up with, IMHO!

Oh my, we must be living on different planets. I will give up anything for sleep; I dream of getting my kids to try anything but usually fail, and twitter is my BFF.

Good thing we have blogging and a sense of humor in common ;)

Hmm, there just isn’t enough room to share my weirdness, but here it is goes(the Cliff Notes version):

1. Most evenings I smell like garlic, red pepper, and olive oil because I was cooking…thank God, my husband loves me smelling like pepperoni.

2. I love cold pizza ANY time especially with extra garlic–I will never have issues with vampires.

3. My quest in life is to find the perfect bobble-head dog.

4. I try to avoid reading people’s tweets around dinner time because I get really hungry reading what everyone is having for dinner.

Whereas I am bummed that the new Dominos crust has what seems to be a lot of garlic in it (to me). :)

21 Suzie July 9, 2010 at 13:21

I’m in total agreement on the cold pizza! Yum!

I also really like cottage cheese with a little mustard and black pepper mixed in!

Love to eat little tomatoes right off the plant—warmed by the sun!!

I hate applesauce but love to eat livermush and pickled eggs.

I’m fascinated with water…lakes, swimming pools, full bathtubs, drinkable types, seas, and I get giddy just typing the word…W.A.T.E.R.

I collect newspapers from all the state capitals. I have to go there to get them, and I’m still missing about half.

Oh the newspaper collecting thing – love that! I have newspapers collected from historic events – but not capitals. Nice one.

And liver much and pickled eggs? Um, yea, I have no words…

I am definitely a heatopolis girl. I would happily be the mayor of heatopolis. Our bedroom air conditioner has been broken for two years now and I don’t mind a bit! Must be the South African in me. Never grew up with AC, never got used to it. Love me those hot summer nights! :)

Reply

27 Bekah July 9, 2010 at 14:57

YOU ARE SO SOUTH AFRICAN!
thats all I can say….you nescafe freaks! :)

I can sing along word for word to every contemporary Christian artist of the 90s, yet forget their names, or the title of the song…

I think the best coffee is cafa bustolo. Thick, cuban espresso.

I just had vetkoek for dinner, my favorite south african supper, and i am unashamed to say it!!

I am all alone and laughing so hard I wish I had someone to share it with! Yup, Nescafe it is baby. The king of instant coffees! Now if only I had some vetkoek to go with it!!

- I too dislike chocolate. I’ll eat it occasionally, but in general the smell and taste disgust me. Give me salty/savory snacks any day, especially sunflower seeds.
- I usually remember to put things in my calendar, but I rarely remember to check it.
- I think of certain numbers as being related to one another. 3, 6, and 9 are in a family. So are 0, 2, 5, and 8. Numbers are generally in more than one family. I memorize numbers (phone numbers, addresses, etc.) by figuring out their relationships to one another.
- My brain is highly suggestible. Just the word “livermush” is grossing me out right now.

Ugh – the calendar thing – me too!!

I love mayonnaise on grilled cheese sandwiches
I drink decaf coffee 99% of the time
I don’t like cold pizza or pizza for breakfast
I love eating pumpkin pie or pecan pie (my mom’s recipe) warmed with whipped cream for breakfast.

I like to catch toads and lizards and look at bugs close up
I refuse to tweeze my eyebrows (too painful) or dye my gray (too much trouble)
I find studying maps entertaining
I LOVE being snowed in

Oh, I LOVE cold pizza! Especially for breakfast!
I hate to eat hotdogs and doughnuts.
I love to paint (as in paint walls in houses). I love it so much that I get envious when I hear someone else say they’re painting.
I cannot paint anything without getting the paint on my clothes. Even small items.
I love the smell of coffee but hate the taste of it. Same with wine and most beer.
I need at least 10 hours of sleep every night. I rarely get it, but that’s the ideal amount for me.
I’m not afraid of heights, but I’m terrified of ladders. I can only go up two or maybe three rungs before I start hyperventilating.

My hubby is a missions guy and drinks ALOT of Nescafe, especially when he’s in Africa!
I love spicy foods and always have. So much so that my parents had to restrict my spicy condiments the way that most parents restrict sugar.
I read really fast, like a 300 pg book in only a few hours. The only problem is I can’t remember the books I’ve read. I have re-started books, realizing at the third chapter that I’ve read them before.
I don’t understand Twitter. I’m pretty sure that it’s the thing that I will look back on and say, “That’s when I knew I was an old person.” I’m glad you love it, though! Community is awesome, wherever it happens.

I love coffee, but don’t have one set way I drink it. Some days call for milk, or sugar, or ice, or all three… and some days I just drink it straight up.

I love email and Facebook but don’t text or Twitter (yes, that makes me feel old).

I hate checking messages but rarely answer the phone.

My family is my life, but I dream of a night alone in a luxury hotel, with high thread count sheets, room darkening shades, and a late, late check out.

I probably haven’t been to the bathroom alone in seven years.

I could eat an entire bag of salt and vinegar chips by myself. And not feel badly about it.

I love cute skirts and wear them even when my day’s plan consists of reorganizing closets or hanging out with my children at home all day.

I have kept a month by month list of every book I have read for the past 14 years.

I do not like chatting on the telephone.

I like progress.
And accomplishing things.

I really don’t know.

You are funny. I like lists too. But not related to my non-essentials. Like reading. Which might be essential to the soul, but is not essential like, say, working through all the laundry.

You know?
