What I sometimes hear in the ocean

in Faith

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said…

Who enclosed the sea with doors
When, bursting forth, it went out from the womb?

Where were you when I made a cloud its garment
And thick darkness its swaddling band?

And I placed boundaries on it
And set a bolt and doors,

And I said, ‘Thus far you shall come, but no farther;
And here shall your proud waves stop‘?

Then Job answered the LORD and said,
“Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You?”

I love that God – knowing we are insignificant – yet still created all of this glorious grandeur and allows us to live here… sigh. :)

Ah, even the word “ocean” refreshes me. Just returned from home–Richmond Beach, Washington, and other parts of western Washington–where I strolled the beach, collected shells, inhaled cool fresh salt-sea air, rode a ferry boat, watched twin dolphins rollicking alongside the boat ….. all of them a gift from God. To paraphrase an old saying, “You can take the girl away from the ocean, but you can’t take the ocean away from the girl.”

One of my favorite passages in the whole Bible…who are we really to try and understand? His still silent voice always silences me. Gonna remember this tonight when I listen to the ocean waves singing their resounding melody as sparks of crackling fire fly in the air….

How wonderful to know there is much, much more, than a Zip Code. Your pictures and comments blessed my heart immensely.

Thank you Gypsy Mama for allowing God to use you to bless others.

Thanks Jean – it’s amazing what He can make of all our missteps along the way! :)

What amazing writing…I think I need to read Job again!

I realized the other day that I’m a water girl. It relaxes and refreshes me. I love nothing more than to lie on the beach, staring at the ocean. It makes me feel so small, so insignificant, like Job says. But it also makes me feel so loved – The Creator of all this majesty loves insignificant me? It’s a special feeling.

For me the ocean is the thing that always inspires wonder and fear (the good kind, the reverent kind) in my soul. It is the thing that makes me feel like God has His physical arms wrapped around me. The grandeur and the unpredictability, the strength and the beauty of it… it blows me away every time. What a great post!
