Sunday reflections from Guatemala

From the book of Isaiah, chapter 51:

1“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness,
Who seek the LORD:
3Indeed, the LORD will comfort Zion;
He will comfort all her waste places

And her wilderness He will make like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the LORD;

Joy and gladness will be found in her,
Thanksgiving and sound of a melody.

4“Pay attention to Me, O My people,
And give ear to Me, O My nation;
For a law will go forth from Me,
And I will set My justice for a light of the peoples.

5“My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth,
And My arms will judge the peoples;

11So the ransomed of the LORD will return
And come with joyful shouting to Zion,

And everlasting joy will be on their heads
They will obtain gladness and joy,
And sorrow and sighing will flee away.

12“I, even I, am He who comforts you.

Hi Lisa-Jo,

I am loving reading of your experiences there in Guatemala. I love your honesty, your heart, your advocacy for children who can’t speak for themselves. It is a beautiful thing, and we are so fortunate to be on this journey with you.

I know your heart is potentially getting weary–so much to see and process and write and chew on. Hang in there.

Thanks for giving us this gift . . .

Love, Laura

thinking and praying for you as you return from Guatemala and process all that God showed you… can’t wait to see how your heart beats with the memory of each child you met and your fingers type in rhythm to the cadence of His heart this week…

and LOVED that you skyped with the (in)courage gals last week from Guat. that thrilled me to pieces!

Ah, how perfect that HIS word so beautifully tied the last post together. Oh what comfort in those words. Thanks so much for going, for sharing. It’s amazing how God can use this “community” to knit hearts and lives together for His kingdom. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I love how alive the Word becomes right before our eyes. This was beautifully heartbreaking.
