Sometimes Valentine’s comes in March

March 1, 2012

Give me a man who’s there at midnight when the mercury pushes over 100.

Give me a man who isn’t afraid of croup and will sit in the bathroom for long steamy shifts with the shivering, hacking boy as they both breathe in the healing steam of the shower.

Give me a man who knows which boy needs what lovie and who can always, always find the missing pacifiers. Give me a  man who comes home early without being asked. Give me a man who always brings chocolate.

There were days I ranted about forgotten roses and anniversaries. Now I wake up at midnight and find you on the bottom bunk with a boy who’s sweating out his fever and my heart blooms.

You are my middle of the week, March 1st Valentine.

oh yes…my husband had flowers waiting for me when i returned from a hard weekend with a friend whose husband committed suicide…for me…those flowers meant so much more than roses on valentines…we both have been blessed with husbands who tends to the heart of their families…let’s keep our focus there…may healing come quickly to your household…

Amen. When I was first married, I told my husband I wasn’t interested in Valentine’s Day. Ha! Boy was he confused. But, my point was that I wanted every day to be a Love Day. Not just one a year. I think he got the point … 23 years later, we’re still happy. :)

YES. :) So thankful for a God who gives us the eyes that gradually adjust to recognize the marvelous in the ordinary!

I loved this post, Lisa-Jo. The reason why: You have experienced the joy of true love. It isn’t just in the flowers and typically romantic things, it’s in the love of your husband for your children. Wow. I am so encouraged. Thank you.
