Hello! I have been a silent reader for a while now. I feel comforted when reading your words on the screen. You have such a gift and its refreshing to see you using that gift to glorify Him!

Hi Lisa Jo - I was reading through the (In) Courage contributors and did a double take when I saw you! Hard to believe it's been 9 years since Notre Dame. Well, wanted to let you know that the posts about your mom really resonate with me. I recently lost my dad to brain cancer and I still have a hard time believing that he won't get to see my son grow up and he never got to meet my daughter. He would have turned 61 on September 13th. I'm so glad I found your blog and look forward to reading about your trip!

I have found your blog via (In)Courage and it is so encouraging to me. My husband is South African and I am an American missionary kid born and raised in Haiti until the age of 16. I have been reading through MANY of your posts the past few days and I can relate to SO MUCH! I have spent so much of my life wanting to "fit in" and never did. In college (university) I eventually embraced my "different-ness" and then eventually got accused of "trying" to be different. HA! We have been married for 5 years (this coming Friday - YAY!). We lived the first 2 years in America and the last 3 in South African and we are preparing now to immigrate in the next month back to America for a season of seeking & searching the next step that God has for us. I love reading your posts because I SO, SO, SO "get" the feelings of missing home and the feeling of knowing that either country that you live in one of the two of you is a fish out of water. I also love the fact of knowing that this extra pressure/stress/dynamic in our marriage has pulled us together is such a beautiful way that not everyone can get.....understanding and communicating in a bi-cultural marriage is ALWAYS and adventure! Thanks for sharing your heart, your family, your life with all of us!

Happy Birthday Lisa-Jo!
I have been here a few times via links from other blogs I regularly read. As I was reading your post today I just thought, "I always love what I read here--why do I not have her in my Reader?" So as soon as I am done de-lurking you will be added!
I am from Indiana originally, but I married an Aussie and now live in Australia. My sister lives in Chicago and we write each other on http://letters2mysister.wordpress.com. We are brand-new baby bloggers, but you are welcome to come by and, well, lurk.
Cheers,
Sarah

We have two children that live with us:) Eldan age 4 and Evelyn age 2 (she is a redhead by the way). One baby in heaven and one on the way. Life is full.
